  • Louise Goldin x Topshop
    Tuesday, December 01, 2009 15:43

Louise Goldin’s spring 2010 footwear collection for Topshop stiletto pumps covered in studs and spikes. The studded stilettos come in three shades (black, white or silver) and feature a massive amount of studs and spikes on the toe, along the heel and pretty much everywhere else.

These are the perfect self-defense high-heel. A release date and price have yet to be announced but they're set for release in Spring 2010.

I think this is the 'wasteman' repellent I've been searching for :-)

    Kehinde Wiley x Puma...
    Monday, November 30, 2009 13:39

In anticipation for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Puma have teamed up with New York based painter, Kehinde Wiley, to create a limited edition version of the V1.10 soccer boot.
Kehinde Wiley has gained worldwide acclaim for his unique style, in which he portrays African Americans in traditional poses placed upon boldly colored backgrounds.

Wiley has an ability to blend traditional and contemporary painting styles that is unparalleled. His work has been described with words like, 'intensity' and 'passion', two words also synonymous with soccer players and their fans. Wiley has worked with Puma on a successful collection in the recent past, so it only seemed natural for Puma to call upon him again for this special edition boot.

    Collette is coming to Town...
    Wednesday, November 25, 2009 21:17
Yes, the cool boutique is opening a pop-up in East London at the Old Truman Brewery from November 26 - January 3!

Before you get too excited, there is a catch. You can't just show up and shop at said pop-up holiday store.
To purchase a Colette-edited gift you need to get on the guest list by either applying online—which according to British Vogue is not as easy as it sounds—or tracking down store sponsored Nissan Cube cars cruising through London and asking the driver for an invite.

Those lucky enough to enter the store will find a number of Japanese inspired lifestyle products for sale (including the Nissan Cube car), live music, fashion presentations, and art installations.

    H&M x Jimmy Choo...1 day to go!
    Friday, November 13, 2009 14:28

It's the eve of the Jimmy Choo and H&M's collaboration, everybody's talking about it and discussing whether or not its worth risking their life to attend. I still haven't decided if I wanted to spend my day off fighting for the last thigh high boots in my size or even better waiting for a few hours in the rain.

    Lupe Fiasco x RSVP Gallery...
    14:20

In the past I have documented my love for the lyrical beast and cool nerd that is Lupe fiasco, so I couldnt pass up on the chance to post his new collaboration with the RSVP Gallery to produce what they’re calling the ‘Red Box‘.

Its the latest in a series of collaborative efforts between the rapper and the Chicago-based luxury boutique, the Red Box is the container showcasing Lupe’s latest designs. This month, the box is holding t-shirts designed by Lupe and punk band Japanese Cartoon.

    Tuesday, November 10, 2009 15:09

Legendary French female street artist, Fafi has teamed up with Adidas Originals to create a limited edition collection of ladies footwear and clothing. Fafi is best known for her canvas work and handpainted graffiti.
The women’s collection features a total of five different models. The predominately white bases of the Superskate, Honey Low, Honey Mid and Stan Smith Velcro are joined by the lone black colorway of The Sneeker.
Its been a while since I've been excited about footwear that didn't include a killer heel, but the Superskate definately belongs in my wardrobe!

    UGG's Flagship in Covent Garden...
    Saturday, November 29, 2008 21:51

Ugg boots are showing no signs of going out of style anytime soon, they were first introduced to the ever-changing world of British fashion back in '03 and to celebrate the brand's success, Ugg is opening its European flagship store in Covent Garden.

Just one month ago, Ugg opened its outlet in London's new Westfield centre and today the sheepskin-lined footwear will be hitting Covent Garden following the launch party this week. The Covent Garden store will echo the decor of the Westfield one, with rich wood and plenty of soft sheepskin rugs.

Personally I think they look like loaves of hard-dough bread, but to each and their own...I guess.

Adidas have collaborated with David Z to create the Black Tie Project.

This partnership takes a deluxe approach with premium pearlarized leathers, patent leather and tone on tone pinstripes, but what really makes this shoe unique is the toe and midsole.
The traditional rubber shell was replaced with premium embroidered leather and the midsole was leather wrapped giving a more sophisticated and grown appeal.
The Superstar has been transformed into a dress shoe in this collaboration. There are only 400 pairs available, set for release on 'Black Friday' November 28th.

    It's Pop' Africana...
    18:49

I love hearing about new and interesting creative projects especially when its mission is to 're-educate the globe'.

So imagine how intrigued I was to recieve an email about 'Pop’Africana' a project which aims to re-define African fashion and style in the media.

'Pop’Africana is a collaborative effort which aims to re-introduce and
re-define all aspects of 'Art Africano' . Not only will the magazine aim to
re-educate the globe on African ideas of style and individualism it also aims to
serve as a robust, visual guide for understanding the 'Africano pshyce' from an
all inclusive perspective. Pop’Africana sets the standard for iconic style and
individualism and we are steering to the limits of the stars. So jump aboard!
Show some love to the premier issue by PopAfricana.com'

    - Press Release

A project like this is long overdue. Many people are unaware of Africa's cutting edge, bold fashion and style. I am so tired of the negative images the Media try to associate with Africa, so its great to see things such a this.

Jeremy Scott x Adidas Originals Collection...
    Thursday, October 09, 2008 10:38

The Jeremy Scott x Adidas Originals collection debuted in Paris during fashion week, and will be released through selected boutiques from February 1st, 2009.
The Jeremy Scott x Adidas Original collaboration is part of their 'Originals by Originals' project, which will also feature collections by streetwear designers Alyasha Owerka-Moore and Kazuki.
The collection features flapper fringe jackets, a leopard-print hoodie, and loose fitting sequined track pants. I'm raising an eyebrow at a few pieces, but I'm loving the Adidas Metro Attitude Hi-top...it has wings!

    Jourdan Dunn x Vogue UK...
    Monday, October 06, 2008 14:52

After starring as one of the cover girls on the ground breaking Vogue Italia ‘A Black Issue’, Jourdan Dunn is now on the cover of Vogue UK.

Despite the fact she shares the Vogue UK cover with Eden Clark and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, it’s a start.
The last black model to be featured on the cover of Vogue UK was Naomi Campbell in 2002.

It seems the industry is slowly but surely moving forward.

    Duro Olowo - Spring '09
    Monday, September 29, 2008 09:33

Duro Olowu has delivered a flood of color and pattern, combined into a visual feast for spring 2009.
Inspired by West African masquerades and the film
Black Orpheus, prints and accessories have a tribalism to them. With colorfully bold prints worked into sweeping gowns and patch-worked in other areas.

Despite all this visual commotion the silhouettes are classic and chic as Olowu’s cut allow the clothes to be wearable. Just not for the timid.

    Insa 'Heels'
    Tuesday, September 16, 2008 23:08

UK artist Insa introduces Insa Heels. It was only a matter of time for this to come, after the artist has become known through his heels design in recent years.

Based in London, ‘Insa Heels’ is a bold backlash against mass production and aims to establish itself as a luxury footwear brand with limited edition colours, using only top end materials and European production.

The artist got together with Ruth Shaw, a London based shoe designer, to bring Insa Heels to life. The first release includes three colorways of the "Classic" stiletto, both featuring the iconic Insa Heels designs.

The website with online store will be going live tomorrow, September 17th
